Finance Salary Guide 2026 – South Africa
SALARY GUIDE · August 20, 2026
These are PKB Talent Partners’ indicative 2026 market benchmarks for finance roles in South Africa, spanning transactional and management accounting, financial control, commercial finance, FP&A, and executive finance leadership. Experienced finance professionals commonly span roughly R35,000 to R130,000+ per month CTC, with Finance Director and CFO packages moving materially higher depending on company scale and complexity. Benchmark the full package, not just basic salary — bonus, incentives, medical aid, retirement contributions, share schemes and reporting scope all move what a role is really worth.
Key findings for 2026
- Finance hiring is highly segmented: the same job title can carry very different scope in an owner-managed business, a manufacturing group, a multinational or a listed company.
- CA(SA) remains a strong premium qualification for financial control, reporting, governance and senior leadership roles.
- CIMA/ACMA and strong costing experience are particularly valuable in manufacturing and operationally focused finance teams.
- ERP transformation, automation and data capability increase a finance professional’s marketability.
- Johannesburg/Gauteng is the deepest corporate finance market, but company scale and role scope often matter more than location.

How this guide was compiled
PKB Talent Partners reviewed its 2026 salary material and cross-checked the direction of the ranges against South African salary information available in August 2026. Because published sources use different definitions (basic pay, gross monthly pay or CTC), the guide deliberately uses broad annual CTC ranges rather than a single average.
Important: indicative figures only
All figures are indicative South African rand cost-to-company (CTC) benchmarks for comparison and recruitment conversations. They are not actual salaries paid by any named employer or earned by any named person, not a guaranteed offer, and not a legal minimum, bargaining-council rate or prescribed salary scale. Always refine against the specific vacancy and the full reward package.
